How perfume can be more to you than a nice fragrance
Perfume can be more to you than a nice fragrance or scent. It can add something you crave for or lack at that moment like joy, feminity, elegance, calmness, softness, feeling beautiful or sexy.
At times when I crave for a feminine scent like Pure Distance Opardu I am not exactly wearing feminine clothes but I would like to feel more feminine. When I want to feel joyful I reach for Hilde Soliani Luce or uplifted Hermes Eau D’Orange Verte.
Before selecting a fragrance I ask myself what do I need or crave for at this moment and which fragrance can help me with this after which I select a scent. You can try this for yourself. One way to do if you haven’t a whole collection of perfumes is to use sample kits like I did with the Pure Distance sample set and Opardu and see what different perfumes can do by experimenting with them.
By using the different tags on this website you can learn more and see what different fragrances can do for you.
What is your experience. Do you feel perfume can do something extra for you?

I also do this all the time, Esperanza. I believe perfume can medicate and even be used as a tool for transformation. I wrote a magazine article about this topic which was never published in the end but maybe I should post it on the blog some time. I find the idea fascinating.

Interesting, Tara. Very much look forward to your article. How do you use the fragrances, which ones and for what remedies?

Some examples would be rose (Fille de Berlin) for not-pretty days, incense (Passage d’Enfer) for frayed nerves, Vol de Nuit to ground me and mandarin to lift me up (Eau de Mandarine Ambree). I’m clearly using perfume as aromatherapy 🙂

Interesting choices, Tara. Especially the Vol de Nuit to ground you. Never thought to use it that way. Sometimes I use it before going to sleep to calm me. And the Eau de Mandarine Ambree as an uplifting scent. You are using them as aromatherapy! Wonderful to read how you use these scents. Passage d’Enfer is not a scent I am very familiar with but I have gotten curious about if now 🙂

I choose my perfume for the next day depending on what I am going to wear. Hardly ever change the next day. For a relaxt day I take D600 by Carner Barcelona. When I wear black or dark clothes I take Black by Bulgari. wearing yellow/orange I love O/E by Bogue. So colour is also important for me.

Nice choices, Mary, I will give D600 a try as I have a sample. Why do you choose O/E with orange/yellow? I can imagine why you wear Black with Black clothes. Very suited.

Because O/E is a very sunny warm perfume, in my opinion ofcourse:)

Perfumes do not affect me in a way you’ve described: I rather choose perfume based on how I think it fits my upcoming day.
